Artist's Description
The old boats were tied up together at a defunct waterfront boatyard in Mill Neck, Long Island near Bayville. Over time, they both settled to the bottom, but it is not very deep here, so the decks were still above water. I never would have thought that either one could be rescued, but the black one, which is called "Christine" was restored and is now used in a program based out of the Oyster Bay waterfront to educate kids about sailing and the ecosystem. Pretty cool!
About Marguerite Chadwick-Juner
Marguerite Chadwick-Juner is a native of City Island in the Bronx where she lived and worked until a recent move to North Carolina. She attended the High School of Art & Design in NYC and got her B.F.A. from Cooper Union, also in NYC. Her works are executed, for the most part, in either watercolors for their pure, luminescent coloror a unique multi-media technique utilizing acrylics, gel medium and artist's crayons for their rich, textural qualities. She has won competitive awards in both mediums and her works are in numerous private and corporate collections.
